Although he was born and raised in New York City, Jules Aarons spent the majority of his life in the Boston area. The diverse ethnic neighborhoods of the North End, West End, and South End, represent the core of his subject matter. He found these neighborhoods, and the people who resided within them, some of his most compelling photography subjects, and certainly his most accessible.
The vast portfolio of Boston photographs, dating from the years 1947-1976, can be viewed in the books Into The Streets 1947-1976 and Public Spaces/Private Moments: The Photographs of Jules Aarons.
